Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation training on NIHSS score and quality of life in patients with brain metastasis of lung cancer. Methods Eighty patients with brain metastasis of lung cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from September 2017 to February 2019 were enrolled in the study who were divided into two groups by random number table method. Patients in the control group (40 patients) received routine care. The observation group (40 patients) were treated with progressive muscle relaxation training based on routine care. The changes of neurological deficit assessment scale (NIHSS), quality of life and nursing satisfaction between the two groups of patients were compared. Results Before the nursing intervention, there was no significant difference on the NIHSS scores and quality of life between the two groups(P>0.05). The difference of NIHSS scores before and after intervention in the observation group was statistically significant (P<0.05). The NIHSS score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group significantly (P<0.05). The scores of life quality were significantly lower than those before the intervention (P<0.05) beside the social/family status scores. There was no significant change in the quality of life scores before the intervention (P>0.05). The satisfaction of the observation group (95.00%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (80.00%) (P<0.05). Conclusion Progressive muscle relaxation training can improve the NIHSS score and quality of life in patients with brain metastases of lung cancer, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
